REPRESENTING DISTRICT THREE
New ideas for De Pere
March 25, 2010
I want to thank everyone for giving me the honor of representing our District
on the De Pere City Council. The past four years have been filled with ups
and downs and a number of very tough decisions. In the end the decision to
step down was a very difficult one, but at this time my growing family is
taking priority.
De Pere is a Great City. We are the home of industry, unique retail,
excellence in education and a population base with deep rooted values of hard
work and honesty. All of these aspects blend together to elevate the
community and make this a great place to live.
Throughout the past four years I have stuck to the principals that I first
published on this webpage and that I put on my election flyers that I dropped
off to just about every house in the district. I always kept a focus on
business and growth of the City of De Pere's tax base. I continued to look
for ways to keep taxes low or try to reduce them through cutting waste. And
I always kept an open mind when looking at change and looked at all of the
positives instead of focusing on one or two negatives. The hardest thing for a
Council person to do is to vote against the wishes of a few people who show
up at a meeting, when you still know that the proposed idea or change is
good for the thousands of other citizens who are at home. I stood up to this
pressure and made sure I always voted true to my basic principals that I
made clear before I was even elected.
It is now time to allow someone else the opportunity to bring in some new
ideas and add a new dynamic to the Council. I wish everyone well, especially
everyone that I had the pleasure of working with at the City and on the
Council. I am honored to have had the chance to represent you, the Citizens
of District Three, on the De Pere City Council.
Thank you,
Carl M. Castelic
